Akreos MICS Intraocular Lens

Recognised for its innovative design, the Akreos MICS received the prestigious Gold Medal at the Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) in 2008.

The Akreos MICS lens is designed to be free of spherical aberration. Optical performance is unaffected by optical or anatomical decentration or by pupil size due to uniform centre-to-edge power. The Akreos AO Micro Incision Lens, Akreos MICS, is designed to be injected through a true 1.8mm incision, going where no lens has gone before and delivering the patient advantages of a smaller incision. The Akreos MICS is crafted from a Bausch + Lomb proprietary acrylic material that makes it optimal for today's microincision requirements. The lens can be compressed easily to fit through a 1.8mm incision unfolding smoothly once implanted into the eye and recovering its initial shape without damage.

1.8mm MICS Is a Reality

The Akreos AO Micro Incision Lens, Akreos MICS, is designed to be injected through a true 1.8mm incision, going where no lens has gone before and delivering the patient advantages of a smaller incision.

1.8mm MICS Requires the Material Difference

The Akreos MICS is crafted from a Bausch + Lomb proprietary acrylic material that makes it optimal for today's microincision requirements. The lens can be compressed easily to fit through a 1.8mm incision unfolding smoothly once implanted into the eye and recovering its initial shape without damage.

Homogenous material is free of microvacuoles, resulting in a glistening-free IOL.

Better Vision for More People

The Akreos MICS is designed to be free of spherical aberration. Optical performance is unaffected by optical or anatomical decentration or by pupil size due to uniform centre-to-edge power.1

More predictable and repeatable refractive outcomes can be expected with a broader patient population.

Aberration-Free Design Helps to Enhance Depth of Field

The Akreos MICS maintains the natural positive spherical aberrations compared to aspheric aberrated IOLs. With its aberration-free design, Akreos MICS helps to significantly improve depth of field in comparison to an aspheric aberrated IOL

Unsurpassed Stability

The four-point fixation of the Akreos MICS haptics help optimise stability and centration in the capsular bag.

PCO Reduction

A 360° x 90° posterior barrier ensures optimum cell blockage, including the haptic-optic junction and reinforced haptics and a 10° angulation maintain consistent and controlled pressure on the capsule.

Proven Performance

Since 1998, the Akreos MICS material has been successfully implanted in over 3 million eyes, signalling its safety and biocompatibility.
